For Sale – old stone house in Rosh Pina in the Galilee

Rosh Pina… a bit of history….

Rosh Pina started out as a small settlement in the north and today is considered one of the country's most magical spots, and a popular tourist destination.

Rosh Pina is known by the name "mother of the settlements", originally named "Guy Unni" – settled in 1878 in the upper Galilee at the foothills of Mount Canaan near Safed.

In 1884, the well-known Baron Rothschild decided to take the settlement under his auspices, and developed it by establishing a silk threading factory. Under the Baron's care, the small settlement blossomed and grew. Over the years a synagogue was established (1887), as well as the first national Hebrew school in the Galilee (1899), a winery, an olive press, the first hotel in the Galilee, and more – which were all declared national historical sites - and thus Rosh Pina became a central and important settlement in the Galilee.
During this time, our home was built (more about this to follow). Mrs. Solomon lived in the house, where she ran a cheese-making factory. The cheeses were kept in the cellar of the house and on Fridays were sold to the residents of Rosh Pina and the surrounding area.

Rosh Pina is continuously being developed as a central locale in the Galilee, alongside other historical sites that have been renovated over the years. Rosh Pina boasts several culinary and cultural attractions and guests houses (B&B as well as boutique hotels) and art galleries featuring sculpture, reproductions, metal work, wood carving, refurbished antique items and decorative objects.
Rosh Pina is continuously growing and developing as a source of employment and housing.
The medical school in nearby Safed draws students as well as medical specialists to the area.
Rosh Pinna is connected to a highway, and by next year the city of Carmiel (20 minutes from Rosh Pina) will be connected to Israel's railway service, making the area even more accessible to the center of the country.

• In the heart of the settlement of Rosh Pina, within walking distance from cafes, Cinemateque theatre and wadi, lies a 120 year old stone house with a rich historical heritage. The property has undergone extensive preservation and enlargement, preserving the character of the house while adapting to modern convenience.
• This is a one-of-a-kind stone house – one of the first and very historical properties in Rosh Pina, with a unique cellar. In the past the cellar served as a goat pen, and a place for chilling the cheeses. Each Friday the local residents came to buy cheese from Mrs. Solomon who lived in the house and ran the business together with her workers.
• The house has been faithfully and extensively restored: old layers of plaster were scraped from the walls and the original stone moldings and pillars were uncovered.
• The cellar was dug out until the original bricks were uncovered at the cellar base.
• The walkways were dug out, and the original stones were exposed and renewed.
• Plumbing, electricity and air conditioning were completely replaced.
• The house was renovated at the highest standards: Belgian profile iron window frames, kitchen, bathrooms and showers, inside doors made of aged Carolina wood, a deck connecting the kitchen to the living room porch, and more
